The Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA), created by Thomas Achenbach, is collection of questionnaires used to assess adaptive and maladaptive behavior and overall functioning in individuals.
The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) is a component of the Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA). The ASEBA is used to detect behavioral and emotional problems in children and adolescents. The CBCL is completed by parents.
ASEBA forms are designed to assess diverse behavioral, emotional, social, and thought prob- lems, plus competencies, strengths, and adaptive functioning, using data from multiple informants.
ASEBA software makes it easy to manage data obtained with ASEBA forms by creating easy-to-read profiles of normed scale scores and exportable narrative reports.
The Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA) includes standardized instruments for assessing behavioral, emotional, and social problems and adaptive functioning from the age of 1.5 to 90+ years.
