South Dakota Court Appointed Attorney Voucher is a program managed by the South Dakota Unified Judicial System to help indigent individuals who are unable to afford legal representation. The program provides vouchers for court-appointed attorneys to assist individuals in criminal and civil cases. The program helps to ensure that all South Dakotans have access to legal representation regardless of their financial situation. There are two types of South Dakota Court Appointed Attorney Vouchers: Voucher for Uncontested Divorce and Voucher for Criminal Cases. The Voucher for Uncontested Divorce covers the cost of a court-appointed attorney to represent the petitioner in an uncontested divorce. The Voucher for Criminal Cases covers the cost of a court-appointed attorney to represent the accused in a criminal case. Both vouchers are available to qualifying applicants and must be applied for through the South Dakota Unified Judicial System.
