Alaska CIV-100 (Fairbanks) is a type of asphalt concrete pavement used primarily in the state of Alaska. It is a combination of aggregate, asphalt binder, and other additives. This type of pavement is designed to withstand the cold climate of Alaska and is used for residential and commercial driveways, parking lots, and roads. It is made up of two layers: a course-graded aggregate base and a wearing surface made of asphalt concrete. The aggregate base is composed of crushed stone, sand, and gravel while the asphalt concrete is composed of asphalt binder and other additives. The pavement must be properly compacted and sealed to ensure a long-lasting, durable surface. There are three types of Alaska CIV-100 (Fairbanks): CIV-100A, CIV-100B, and CIV-100C. CIV-100A is the standard type and is used in general applications, CIV-100B is used in areas with heavier traffic, and CIV-100C is used for special applications such as snow removal.
