Alaska Motion to Continue Support for 18-Year-Old is a legal process used in Alaska to continue child support for an 18-year-old who has not yet graduated from high school, has a mental or physical disability or is otherwise incapable of providing for his/her own support. This motion is typically filed by a parent or guardian of the 18-year-old, and is used as an alternative to terminating support when the child turns 18. There are two types of Alaska Motion to Continue Support for 18-Year-Old: 1) the Motion to Continue Support for 18-Year-Old with Special Needs; and 2) the Motion to Continue Support for 18-Year-Old without Special Needs. Both motions must be approved by the court in order for the support obligation to continue. The Motion to Continue Support for 18-Year-Old with Special Needs must include evidence that the 18-year-old has a mental or physical disability or is otherwise incapable of providing for his/her own support. The Motion to Continue Support for 18-Year-Old without Special Needs must include evidence that the 18-year-old is still in high school or is unable to provide for his/her own support due to other circumstances.
