Alaska Instructions for Requesting that Child Support Continue While a Child is 18 consists of two types of requests: 1. Request to Continue Child Support After Age 18: This type of request should be filed by the custodial parent or guardian if they wish to have child support continue after the child turns 18. This type of request must include: a) the child's name, birthdate, and social security number; b) the custodial parent's name, address, and contact information; c) the name, address, and contact information of the non-custodial parent; d) the date the child turns 18; e) the amount of child support ordered; f) a statement of the reason why the child support should continue. 2. Request to Terminate Child Support After Age 18: This type of request should be filed by the non-custodial parent if they wish to have child support terminate after the child turns 18. This type of request must include: a) the child's name, birthdate, and social security number; b) the custodial parent's name, address, and contact information; c) the name, address, and contact information of the non-custodial parent; d) the date the child turns 18; e) the amount of child support ordered; f) a statement of the reason why the child support should terminate. Both of these requests must be filed with the court in the state of Alaska in order to have the request processed.
