Alaska Long-Term Order of Protection from Financial Abuse (LOP FA) is a legal document that provides protection from financial abuse for vulnerable individuals and families from abuse, exploitation, and fraud. It is available to any adult who is a victim of financial abuse or is at risk of becoming a victim of financial abuse. The LOP FA prohibits any person from taking or attempting to take money, property or other assets from the protected person without their consent. There are three types of Alaska Long-Term Order of Protection from Financial Abuse: Temporary LOP FA, Permanent LOP FA, and Ex Parte LOP FA. A Temporary LOP FA is a court order that is granted for a short period of time. A Permanent LOP FA is a court order that is granted for an indefinite period of time and can be extended or modified. An Ex Parte LOP FA is a court order that is granted without the abuser being present.
