Teaching Kids About Courts (TAC): Education Programs for Students sponsored by the Alaska Court System are hands-on, interactive programs designed to educate students about the judicial process. Through the programs, students gain an understanding of the various roles of the court system, how it works, and why it is important. TAC programs are offered to students in grades K-12 and are tailored to each age group. Programs include: • Courtroom demonstration— - Students observe court proceedings and learn about the roles of the judge, attorneys, jury, and other court personnel. • Mock trial— - Students can participate in a mock trial and take on the roles of judge, attorneys, jury, and other court personnel. • Workshop— - Workshops are available to students to go over topics such as the law, the roles and responsibilities of the court system, and the importance of the rule of law. • Tours of courfacilitiesie— - Students can take a tour of court facilities and learn about the history and functions of the court system. • Educational material— - Educational materials are available to students to supplement the programs and provide further learning opportunities.
