Alaska Anchorage Wellness Felony DUI Court is a specialized court program for people with felony-level Driving Under the Influence (DUI) charges. This court is designed to provide an alternative to jail or prison sentences for individuals who are struggling with substance abuse issues and/or mental health issues. This court utilizes evidence-based practices promoting sobriety and recovery, reduce recidivism, and improve public safety. The program is composed of three distinct phases: Orientation, Treatment, and Graduation. During Orientation, participants are assessed and provided with an individualized treatment plan. During Treatment, participants receive a variety of services such as individual counseling, group counseling, substance abuse treatment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and other services. The Graduation phase is designed to help participants transition back into the community with support and accountability. The Alaska Anchorage Wellness Felony DUI Court is a collaborative effort between the Alaska Court System, Anchorage Police Department, Office of the District Attorney, Department of Corrections, Department of Health and Social Services, and the community.
