Alaska Ethel Therapeutic Court is a collaborative court program designed to support individuals with substance use and mental health disorders. It combines traditional court practices with evidence-based treatment and social services to help individuals address the underlying causes of their criminal behavior. The goal of the Alaska Ethel Therapeutic Court is to reduce recidivism and promote successful reintegration into the community. The Alaska Ethel Therapeutic Court consists of two branches: the Adult Therapeutic Court and the Juvenile Therapeutic Court. The Adult Therapeutic Court is designed for defendants 18 years of age or older who have been charged with a felony offense and are struggling with substance use and mental health issues. The Juvenile Therapeutic Court is designed for defendants under the age of 18 who have been charged with a felony offense and are struggling with substance use and mental health issues. Both branches of Alaska Ethel Therapeutic Court provide participants with access to treatment services, social services, and ongoing judicial supervision. The program is based on the principles of accountability, rehabilitation, and public safety, and it seeks to reduce recidivism by addressing the underlying causes of criminal behavior.
