Alaska Palmer Wellness Court is a program designed to provide alternatives to incarceration for individuals with drug-related offenses. It is a voluntary, court-supervised program that offers a comprehensive and individualized approach to treatment and rehabilitation. It is designed to reduce recidivism, promote sobriety, and provide community safety. There are two types of Alaska Palmer Wellness Court: Adult and Juvenile. The Adult Wellness Court is for adult offenders who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives and have been charged with a drug-related offense. The Juvenile Wellness Court is for juvenile offenders who are facing drug-related offenses and need additional support and assistance. Both courts provide treatment, support, and accountability for participants which include individual counseling, drug testing, community service, job training, and educational opportunities. Participants are also required to attend weekly court hearings with a judge to review their progress.
