Alaska Anchorage CHINA (Child in Need of Aid) Therapeutic Court is a specialized court program that focuses on providing therapeutic services to families with child welfare needs. It is a collaborative effort among the Alaska Court System, the Department of Health and Social Services, and community service providers. The program is designed to create a family-focused court process that includes treatment, support, and accountability for families involved in child welfare cases. The CHINA court helps families get to the root of the problem, and create lasting solutions. The court offers a variety of services, such as individual and family counseling, parenting classes, substance abuse treatment, vocational services, and more. The CHINA court also provides access to a network of community resources to assist families in becoming self-sufficient. There are two types of Alaska Anchorage CHINA Therapeutic Court: Traditional CHINA Court and CHINA Reunification Court. Traditional CHINA Court provides services to families who are involved in a child welfare case, while CHINA Reunification Court focuses on reunifying families who have been separated due to child welfare involvement.
