An Alaska Disposition Order — Probation is a court order issued by a judge or magistrate in Alaska which allows a defendant to be placed on probation instead of serving a jail or prison sentence. There are three types of Alaska Disposition Order — Probation: Deferred Sentence Probation, Suspended Execution of Sentence Probation, and Supervised Probation. Deferred Sentence Probation allows the defendant to postpone the imposition of a sentence and remain under court supervision for a period of time, typically a year or less. Suspended Execution of Sentence Probation allows the defendant to remain under court supervision, but with the condition that if the defendant does not comply with the court's order, the defendant can be sent to jail or prison. Supervised Probation requires the defendant to comply with specific conditions, such as community service or drug/alcohol treatment, and to report regularly to a probation officer.
