An Alaska Attorney Admission Petition is a legal document that must be filed with the Alaska Supreme Court in order to be admitted to practice law in the state of Alaska. This petition is the first step in the process to gain authorization to practice law in the state of Alaska. Depending on the individual’s background, there are three types of Alaska Attorney Admission Petitions: 1) Petition for Admission to the Alaska Bar by Examination, 2) Petition for Admission to the Alaska Bar by Motion, and 3) Petition for Admission to the Alaska Bar by Reciprocity. The Petition for Admission to the Alaska Bar by Examination requires the applicant to pass the Alaska Bar Examination and fulfill the other requirements for admission. The Petition for Admission to the Alaska Bar by Motion requires the applicant to demonstrate that they have practiced law for at least 5 years in another jurisdiction and fulfill the other requirements for admission.
