An Alaska Adoption Notice to Absent Parent is a legal document sent to a biological parent to inform them about an adoption proceeding in Alaska. This document is typically sent after the adoption process has already begun, and it serves to notify the parent of the steps that must be taken if they wish to contest the adoption. There are two types of Alaska Adoption Notice to Absent Parent: 1) Notice of Intent to Adopt, and 2) Notice of Adoption Hearing. The Notice of Intent to Adopt informs the parent of the adopted’s name, as well as the name of the prospective adoptive parents, and provides information about the adoption process. The Notice of Adoption Hearing provides the parent with the date, time, and location of the adoption hearing, as well as a statement of the parent’s rights. Both types of notices must be sent to the parent via certified mail, and must include a Certificate of Service to prove that the notice was sent.
