Alaska Anchorage Municipal Wellness Court is a problem-solving court comprised of a team of professionals, including judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officers, substance abuse and mental health specialists, and community representatives. It is a collaborative, court-supervised, post-adjudication program designed to provide intensive supervision, treatment, and support to individuals with substance use disorders and/or mental health issues that have been charged with or convicted of a crime. The goal of the program is to reduce recidivism, improve public safety, reduce the impact of addiction and mental illness on affected individuals and their families, and promote personal responsibility. The program is voluntary and consists of four phases: Assessment, Treatment, Reintegration, and Aftercare. The different types of Alaska Anchorage Municipal Wellness Court include Drug Court, Domestic Violence Court, and Mental Health Court.
