The Alaska Menu’ Community Wellness Court is an innovative court model designed to reduce recidivism and better serve the needs of Alaska Native communities. It is a type of problem-solving court that strives to address the underlying causes of crime instead of relying solely on traditional criminal justice system approaches. The Alaska Menu’ Community Wellness Court offers a holistic approach to addressing criminal behavior, with an emphasis on individual and community healing. The Alaska Menu’ Community Wellness Court is divided into three distinct types: Juvenile Wellness Court, Adult Criminal Wellness Court, and Drug Court. The Juvenile Wellness Court is designed to address the unique needs of Alaska Native youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system. The Adult Criminal Wellness Court is designed to provide services to adults with substance use disorders and mental health disorders who are involved in the criminal justice system. The Drug Court is designed to provide services to adults with substance use disorders who are involved in the criminal justice system.
