Alaska Healing to Wellness Court (AHC) is an alternative court system designed to provide holistic, trauma-informed care to individuals facing criminal charges who are also struggling with substance abuse or mental health disorders. AHC provides individuals with access to an interdisciplinary team of professionals, including mental health and substance abuse counselors, medical professionals, and social workers, who collaborate to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each participant's needs. The court also offers the opportunity for participants to receive culturally-responsive treatment and services in their native language, provided by local Native organizations. AHC has four court types: Adult, Juvenile, Anchorage, and Rural. The Adult AHW Cs are located in Anchorage, Ethel, Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kenji, and Nome. The Juvenile AHC is located in Anchorage. The Anchorage AHC is located at the Anchorage Correctional Complex. The Rural AHC is a mobile court that travels to rural communities throughout Alaska.
