The Alaska Parenting Plan Dispute Resolution Program (PPD) is an alternative dispute resolution process designed to help parents resolve disagreements related to their parenting plan. The program is available in all Alaska court districts and is free of charge. It is a voluntary, confidential process that is designed to help parents reach an agreement on matters concerning their children. It is a non-adversarial process that allows parents to work together to develop a parenting plan that works for their family. The program provides a neutral mediator to help the parents reach agreements on issues such as parenting time, communication, decision-making, and financial support. The program is offered in two types: Online Parenting Plan Dispute Resolution and In-Person Parenting Plan Dispute Resolution. The Online Parenting Plan Dispute Resolution is conducted over the phone or via a secure, web-based platform, allowing parents to communicate and work out an agreement without having to meet in person. The In-Person Parenting Plan Dispute Resolution is conducted by a team of trained mediators, who will meet with the parents in-person to help them reach an agreement. Both types of the program are designed to help parents reach an agreement that is in the best interests of their children.
