The Alaska Proposed Order on Motion for Grandparent Visitation, SHC-1143, is a court order issued by an Alaska Superior Court that grants grandparent visitation rights. This order grants grandparent visitation rights to grandparents of a minor child in a family law matter. The order sets forth the specific visitation rights granted to the grandparent(s), including the days and times of visitation, as well as any additional provisions, such as transportation requirements, that the court may deem necessary. Depending on the circumstances, the court may also order the parents of the minor child to participate in mediation or other forms of dispute resolution prior to the grandparent visitation rights being granted. There are two types of Alaska Proposed Order on Motion for Grandparent Visitation, SHC-1143: temporary and permanent. A temporary order may be issued to allow a grandparent visitation rights while a pending family law matter is being resolved. A permanent order is issued once a family law matter is finalized and grants grandparent visitation rights until the court orders a change.
