Alaska Request for Remote Video Hearing is a way to participate in court hearings from outside the courtroom. This type of remote hearing allows individuals to appear in court from anywhere in the world via video conferencing technology. It is frequently used for criminal or civil cases, family law hearings, or for those individuals who are unable to make it to the courthouse due to medical or other reasons. There are two types of Alaska Request for Remote Video Hearings available: 1) Pre-scheduled remote hearings which are set up ahead of time with the court; and 2) On-demand remote hearings which are set up on the same day or within 24 hours of the request. Both types of hearings require the court to approve the request, the parties to agree to the hearing, and all individuals participating must have access to video conferencing technology.
