Alabama Admission Review Procedures are the process by which applicants to Alabama's public universities are considered and admitted. These procedures are used to ensure that applicants receive fair and equitable access to Alabama's public universities. There are two types of Alabama Admission Review Procedures: Competitive Admissions and Non-Competitive Admissions. Competitive Admissions is a process whereby applicants must meet certain criteria such as academic achievement in high school, ACT or SAT scores, and extracurricular activities in order to be considered for admission. A committee then reviews the applications and makes a decision based on the applicant's qualifications. Non-Competitive Admissions is a process whereby applicants who do not meet the criteria for Competitive Admissions may still be considered for admission. Non-Competitive Admissions is typically based on a holistic review of the applicant's qualifications, including non-academic experiences, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation. The Alabama Admission Review Procedures are designed to ensure that all applicants receive fair and equitable access to Alabama's public universities.
