An Alabama Order on Petition for Expungement is a court order that seals a criminal record in the state of Alabama. This order is issued by a circuit court judge after a petitioner has filed a petition for expungement with the court. The order permanently seals the criminal record and restricts law enforcement agencies and court clerks from releasing or disseminating any information related to the criminal charge or conviction. There are two types of Alabama Order on Petition for Expungement: Non-Conviction Expungement and Conviction Expungement. Non-Conviction Expungement is used to expunge a criminal charge that has been dismissed or resulted in an acquittal. Conviction Expungement is used to expunge a criminal conviction from a petitioner's record. In either case, the petitioner must meet certain criteria in order for the court to approve the petition and issue the order.
