An Alabama Administrative Order-Special Intake Officer (AOSIS) is an independent entity appointed by a court to investigate certain types of cases in the state of Alabama. The AOSIS is responsible for receiving, evaluating, and recommending appropriate action on a case that is referred to them. These cases typically involve allegations of abuse or neglect of a child, dependent adult, or vulnerable adult. The AOSIS may recommend an appropriate resolution, such as court-ordered intervention or services, or referral to another agency or department. The AOSIS may also recommend dismissal of the case. There are several types of AOSIS. These include: • Children’s Intake Speciali—ts – These specialists investigate and evaluate cases of abuse or neglect of children in the state of Alabama. • Dependent Adult Intake Specialist— – These specialists investigate and evaluate cases of abuse or neglect of dependent adults in the state of Alabama. • Vulnerable Adult Intake Specialist— – These specialists investigate and evaluate cases of abuse or neglect of vulnerable adults in the state of Alabama. • Juvenile Intake Specialist— – These specialists investigate and evaluate cases of juvenile delinquency in the state of Alabama. • Juvenile Probation Intake Specialist— – These specialists investigate and evaluate cases of juvenile delinquency for possible probation.
