The Arkansas Certification of Acceptance (ACA) is a document issued by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEN) that authorizes the installation and use of certain remanufactured onsite wastewater treatment systems. The ACA certifies that the system meets all applicable regulations and is safe to use. The ADEN issues two types of Arkansas Certification of Acceptance: an individual Certification of Acceptance, and a System Manufacturer’s Certification of Acceptance. An Individual Certification of Acceptance is issued to an individual who has demonstrated that they have the necessary qualifications and experience to install a wastewater treatment system in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and ADEN regulations. The System Manufacturer’s Certification of Acceptance is issued to a system manufacturer who has demonstrated that their wastewater treatment system meets all applicable regulations and is safe to use. This certification is valid for a specific model of wastewater treatment system, and must be renewed every five years. Both types of Certification of Acceptance must be obtained prior to the installation of a wastewater treatment system in Arkansas.
