Arizona Application and Instructions for Out-of-State Attorneys to Appear Pro HAC Vice is a form that allows attorneys from outside of Arizona to appear in court and represent clients in Arizona. It is used by attorneys who are not licensed in Arizona but want to provide legal representation to clients in Arizona. Pro HAC Vice is Latin for “for this occasion,” and it allows out-of-state attorneys to be granted a one-time permission to appear in court in Arizona. There are two types of Arizona Application and Instructions for Out-of-State Attorneys to Appear Pro HAC Vice: one for attorneys who have never appeared in court in Arizona before, and one for attorneys who have previously appeared in court in Arizona. The first type requires the out-of-state attorney to submit a written application to the Arizona Supreme Court, along with a filing fee. The second type requires the out-of-state attorney to submit a written application to the court they are appearing in, along with a filing fee. In both cases, the out-of-state attorney must provide documentation that they are licensed to practice law in their home state, and a certificate of good standing. The out-of-state attorney must also be sponsored by an Arizona attorney who is licensed to practice law in the state. The Arizona attorney must provide a written certification of sponsorship and a written agreement that they will be responsible for the out-of-state attorney’s conduct in court. Once the application is approved, the out-of-state attorney will be granted permission to appear in court in Arizona. They will then be subject to the rules and regulations of the court in which they are appearing.
