Arizona Order for Historically Significant Case Designation is a state-level designation that recognizes cases that have made a significant impact on the legal history of Arizona. These cases are determined by the Arizona Supreme Court to have “contributed significantly to the development of Arizona law.” The Order for Historically Significant Case Designation is meant to celebrate the cases that have shaped the legal history of Arizona. There are two types of Arizona Order for Historically Significant Case Designation: the Centennial Order and the Sesquicentennial Order. The Centennial Order highlights cases that were decided by the Arizona Supreme Court between 1912-2012. The Sesquicentennial Order recognizes cases that were decided between 1864-1964. Through the Order, the Arizona Supreme Court works to honor the legacy and importance of these cases.
