Arizona Criminal and Civil Traffic Compromise is an alternative to serving out a prison sentence or paying a fine for a criminal or civil traffic offense. It is a form of plea bargaining that allows a defendant to plead guilty to a reduced offense or charge in exchange for a lighter punishment. There are two types of Arizona Criminal and Civil Traffic Compromise: Direct Compromise and Deferred Compromise. Direct Compromise is an agreement between the defendant and the court where the defendant admits guilt to the reduced offense and is sentenced accordingly. Deferred Compromise is an agreement between the defendant and the court in which the defendant agrees to complete certain terms and conditions in exchange for the court dismissing the original charge. In both cases, the defendant must meet the requirements of the agreement, or the original charge will be reinstated. It is important to note that an Arizona Criminal and Civil Traffic Compromise does not remove the offense from the defendant's criminal record.
