Arizona Petition for Modification of Parenting Time and Decision Making is a legal document in which a parent can request a change in the current court-ordered parenting plan. This document can be filed by either the custodial parent or the non-custodial parent and is used to modify existing visitation and decision-making rights. This petition can be used to change the amount of time each parent spends with the children, the location of exchanges for visitation, or to make changes in decision-making authority regarding the children. There are two main types of Arizona Petition for Modification of Parenting Time and Decision Making: 1) Petition to Modify Parenting Time; and 2) Petition to Modify Decision-Making Authority. The Petition to Modify Parenting Time is used when a parent wishes to change the amount of time spent with the children and/or the location of visitation exchanges. The Petition to Modify Decision-Making Authority is used when a parent wishes to change the decision-making authority regarding the children such as medical decisions, education decisions, religious upbringing, etc.
