Arizona Officer Attachment (AOA) is a program developed by the Arizona Department of Public Safety to provide local law enforcement agencies with additional resources. It provides an opportunity for local law enforcement officers to be assigned to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZ DPS) for a period of time, in order to better serve their community. This program allows for officers to gain experience and training in areas such as traffic enforcement, criminal investigation, counterterrorism, and homeland security. AOA consists of two types of attachments: short-term and long-term. Short-term attachments are typically for periods of up to 30 days and are used to fill temporary vacancies, provide additional staffing for special projects, or to provide specialized training. Long-term attachments are for periods of up to one year and are used to fill permanent vacancies or to provide long-term assistance in specialized areas. The AOA program provides officers with the opportunity to develop their skills and gain valuable experience in a variety of areas, while also serving their local community. It is a great way for officers to expand their knowledge and become more effective in their roles.
