The California Verification of Compliance with Hague Adoption Convention Attachment is a document used by the California Department of Social Services (CDs) to determine whether the foreign adoption is compliant with The Hague Adoption Convention. This document must be completed and submitted to the CDs by the adoption service provider in order to receive an approval to proceed with the adoption. The document includes questions related to the international adoption, including information on the child's birth family, the role of the adoption service provider, and the legal framework established in the country of origin. There are three types of California Verification of Compliance with Hague Adoption Convention Attachment. These are the Domestic Verification of Compliance, the Referral Verification of Compliance, and the Final Verification of Compliance. The Domestic Verification of Compliance is completed by the adoption service provider in the child's country of origin and submitted to the CDs prior to the referral of the child. The Referral Verification of Compliance is completed by the adoption service provider in the child's country of origin and submitted to the CDs after the referral of the child. The Final Verification of Compliance is completed by both the adoption service provider in the child's country of origin and the CDs upon the completion of the adoption.
