California Summons — Civil Harassment Restraining Order is a legal document used to protect an individual from being the victim of harassment or stalking. It is issued by the court to prevent the person being harassed from further contact with the harasser and to keep the harasser away from the victim. The restraining order may also include a stay-away order, which requires the harasser to stay a certain distance away from the victim, as well as orders against stalking, threats, and other forms of harassment. There are two types of Civil Harassment Restraining Orders in California: Temporary Restraining Orders (Bros) and Permanent Restraining Orders (Pros). Bros are issued for a limited period of time and are intended to provide immediate protection. Pros are more long-term orders which can last for up to five years.
