The California Response to Request to Renew Restraining Order is a form that must be filled out by the respondent (the person against whom the restraining order is sought) in order to oppose a request to extend a restraining order. This form must be filed in the court where the restraining order was originally requested. There are two types of California Response to Request to Renew Restraining Order: (1) General Response and (2) Limited Response. The General Response can be used to oppose the extension of any type of restraining order. The Limited Response can only be used to oppose the extension of an Emergency Protective Order (EPO). Both types of responses must be signed under penalty of perjury and include a statement that the respondent has received a copy of the petition to extend the restraining order. The respondent must also indicate whether they agree or disagree with the request to renew the restraining Order and provide any additional information that may support their position.
