The California Notice of Court Hearing for Elder or Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention is a document issued by the court to inform an accused abuser of the date, time, and location of the hearing. It also outlines the allegations against the accused, the remedies available, and the consequences of failing to appear for the hearing. The Notice of Court Hearing serves to protect elders and dependent adults from abuse and neglect, and to ensure that abusers are held accountable. There are two types of California Notice of Court Hearing for Elder or Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention: (1) Temporary Restraining Order Hearing and (2) Permanent Restraining Order Hearing. The Temporary Restraining Order Hearing is held shortly after a petition is filed, and is used to prevent further abuse or threats of abuse while the case is pending. The Permanent Restraining Order Hearing is held after the Temporary Restraining Order Hearing, and if granted, will remain in effect until the court decides to terminate it.
