California Verification Of Disability (COD) is a program administered by the California Department of Social Services to verify a person's disability. COD provides verification of a person’s disability status for a variety of purposes including eligibility for benefits, housing, and employment. There are three types of California Verification Of Disability: 1. Non-Medical Verification (MV): Non-Medical Verification is used to verify an individual’s disability status when the disability is not supported by medical documentation. This includes disabilities that are based on income, functional limitations, or other non-medical criteria. 2. Medical Verification (MV): Medical Verification is used to verify an individual’s disability status when the disability is supported by medical documentation. This includes disabilities based on physical or mental impairments, developmental disabilities, and/or chronic illnesses. 3. Social Security Verification (SSV): Social Security Verification is used to verify an individual's disability status when the disability is supported by Social Security Disability Insurance (SDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). This includes disabilities based on physical or mental impairments that meet the standard of the Social Security Administration.
