Connecticut Commutation is a program that allows individuals convicted of a felony or a certain type of misdemeanor to have their sentences reduced or their convictions erased. The program is designed to give those who have served their sentence and/or have been rehabilitated a second chance. Connecticut Commutation allows individuals to have their criminal records sealed or expunged, thus restoring their rights to vote, serve on a jury, possess firearms, and more. There are three types of Connecticut Commutation: * Pardon: A pardon is an official document granted by the Governor that clears an individual's record of a felony conviction. This type of commutation restores the rights that were taken away due to the conviction. * Expungement: An expungement is an order from the court that seals the criminal record and makes it unavailable to the public. This type of commutation does not restore the rights that were taken away due to the conviction. * Certificate of Rehabilitation: A Certificate of Rehabilitation is an official document granted by the court that states that an individual has been rehabilitated and is no longer considered a danger to society. This type of commutation restores the rights that were taken away due to the conviction.
