The Connecticut Application For Supervised Diversionary Program (CA SDP) is a criminal justice program that provides an alternative to traditional court proceedings for those who qualify. CA SDP offers offenders the opportunity to avoid prosecution through a supervised program of counseling, education, and community service. The program is administered by the Connecticut Judicial Branch and its goal is to give eligible individuals a second chance and reduce recidivism. CA SDP is a voluntary program and participants must be referred by the court, prosecutor, or probation officer. Eligibility requirements vary by jurisdiction, but generally include: • Age 18 or older • No prior convictions • No pending charges • Must not have previously been in a diversionary program The program typically consists of counseling, education, community service, and drug testing. Participants must comply with all program requirements and their progress is monitored by the court. If the participant successfully completes the program, their criminal charges are dismissed. There are two types of Connecticut Application For Supervised Diversionary Program: Pre-Trial Diversionary Program (PDP) and Post-Conviction Diversionary Program (PDP). PDP is available to those who have been charged but not yet convicted and PDP is available to those who have been convicted but not yet sentenced.
