Connecticut Application For Accelerated Pretrial Rehabilitation — POLISH (APR-POLISH) is a program offered by the Connecticut Judicial Branch that allows individuals to be considered for pretrial diversion from prosecution. The program is available for those who have been charged with a non-violent felony or certain misdemeanors. The program focuses on providing rehabilitation and treatment to individuals in lieu of criminal prosecution. This program is open to adults only. The Connecticut APR-POLISH program has two distinct types: the Expedited APR-POLISH and the Standard APR-POLISH. The Expedited APR-POLISH is specifically for those individuals who have been arrested and are held in custody. The Standard APR-POLISH is for those individuals who have been charged but are not currently in custody. The program has several requirements including a screening process, a formal application, a criminal background check, and a counseling session. Once accepted, participants must adhere to a strict set of conditions that may include treatment, counseling, and community service. If all the conditions are met, the charges against the participant are dismissed.
