The Connecticut Landlord's Affidavit under C.G.S. section 47a-11d Re: Possessions of a Deceased Tenant (New 1/18) is a legal document used by landlords in the state of Connecticut to protect their rights and interests in the case of a deceased tenant. This document is used to certify that the landlord has taken possession of the property and all the tenant’s possessions, and that no other person is entitled to any of the tenant’s possessions. There are two types of Connecticut Landlord's Affidavit under C.G.S. section 47a-11d Re: Possessions of a Deceased Tenant (New 1/18): a General Affidavit and a Special Affidavit. The General Affidavit is used when the deceased tenant had no surviving spouse, children, or parents. The Special Affidavit is used when the deceased tenant had one or more of these surviving relatives. In either case, the landlord must provide information about the tenant, including the tenant’s name, address, and date of death, as well as a list of all possessions of the tenant taken into possession by the landlord. The affidavit must be notarized and submitted to the court for approval.
