Connecticut Petition and Agreement of Adult Adoption (Rev. 1/18) is a legal document used by individuals in the state of Connecticut to adopt an adult. This document is necessary to legally recognize the adult as the adopted child of the petitioner (person proposing the adoption). It contains the agreement between the petitioner and the adopted, outlining the rights and responsibilities of both parties. It must be signed by the petitioner, the adopted, and any other parties involved in the adoption. The document must also be filed with the court. There are two types of Connecticut Petition and Agreement of Adult Adoption (Rev. 1/18): the Stepparent Adult Adoption and the Non-Stepparent Adult Adoption. The Stepparent Adult Adoption is used when one parent is the petitioner and the other are the adopted, while the Non-Stepparent Adult Adoption is used when the petitioner and adopted have no biological or legal connection.
