The Connecticut Pretrial Drug Education and Community Service Program Application (Veterans) is a program designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to perform community service as an alternative to incarceration for criminal offenses related to drugs or alcohol. The program is available to veterans who are Connecticut residents and have been charged with a drug or alcohol related offense. This program is designed to provide participants with education and resources to help them avoid future criminal activity and become productive members of society. It provides participants with an opportunity to give back to their community while receiving treatment and rehabilitation services. The program consists of three different types of applications: Veterans, Non-Veterans, and First Time Offenders. The Veterans' application is specifically designed for those who have served in the U.S. military and have been charged with a drug or alcohol related offense. The Non-Veterans application is available to those who have not served in the military and have been charged with a drug or alcohol related offense. The First Time Offenders' application is designed for those who have no prior criminal history and have been charged with a drug or alcohol related offense. The program consists of completing a community service project, attending drug and alcohol education classes, and completing a treatment program. Upon successful completion of the program, the charges are dismissed and the participant is able to have their drug or alcohol related offense expunged from their criminal record.
