District of Columbia CJA Precise is a form used in criminal cases in the District of Columbia. It is used to request that the Clerk of the Court issue a subpoena or writ of habeas corpus. There are two types of District of Columbia CJA Precise forms: the District of Columbia CJA Precise for Subpoena and the District of Columbia CJA Precise for Writ of Habeas Corpus. The CJA Precise for Subpoena is used to ask the Clerk of the Court to issue a subpoena requiring a certain person to appear before a court or other tribunal to testify or to produce documents or other tangible evidence. The CJA Precise for Writ of Habeas Corpus is used to ask the Clerk of the Court to issue a writ of habeas corpus, which is an order from the court to a public official or other person holding a person in custody that requires them to bring the prisoner before the court and show cause why they should remain in custody. Both of these forms must be signed by an attorney admitted practicing in the District of Columbia before they can be filed with the Clerk of the Court.
