A District of Columbia Subpoena is a legal document that requires a person or entity to appear in court or to produce certain documents or information at a specified location and date. It is issued by a court in the District of Columbia, the capital of the United States, and is enforceable in any court within the District of Columbia. There are two types of District of Columbia Subpoena: a “SubpoenDuckseCecumum” and a “Subpoena Ad Testificandum.” A SubpoDucksuceCecumum requires a person or entity to produce specific documents or records. A Subpoena Ad Testificandum requires a person or entity to appear in court and provide testimony. Both types of Subpoena can be issued to a person or entity located outside the District of Columbia, though they must be served in the District of Columbia. Failure to comply with a District of Columbia Subpoena can result in a contempt of court citation.
