The District of Columbia Name Reservation Registration & Transfer Form is a form used to register, reserve, and/or transfer a business name in the District of Columbia. This form must be completed and filed with the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DORA) in order to reserve the desired business name and prevent other businesses from using it. There are three types of District of Columbia Name Reservation Registration & Transfer Forms. The first is the Name Reservation Form, which is used to register a business name with the DORA for a period of up to 120 days. The second is the Name Transfer Form, which is used to transfer an existing business name to a new owner. The third is the Name Assignment Form, which is used to transfer an existing business name to a new owner who is also a DC resident. All forms must be filled out and filed with the DORA.
