The District of Columbia Articles of Organization of Domestic Limited Liability Company is a legal document used to form a limited liability company (LLC) in the District of Columbia. The Articles of Organization must include the name of the LLC, its purpose, its principal address, the name and address of its registered agent, and the name and address of each organizer. The Articles of Organization must be signed by at least one organizer and filed with the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. The District of Columbia Articles of Organization can be used to form a regular LLC, a nonprofit LLC, a professional LLC, or a foreign LLC. Each type of LLC requires different information and documents to be filed with the Department. For example, a regular LLC must submit a fee with the Articles of Organization, while a non-profit LLC must submit additional documents, such as a Certificate of Incorporation and a Statement of Organization. A professional LLC must submit a certificate of authority and a statement of purpose. Finally, a foreign LLC must submit a Certificate of Authority and a Certificate of Good Standing from the home state.
