Delaware Correction is the state-run agency responsible for operating the correctional facilities and overseeing the incarceration and rehabilitation of adult inmates in the state of Delaware. It provides a wide range of services that include intake and assessment, custody and security, medical and mental health, education and training, and re-entry services. There are three types of Delaware Correction facilities: Prisons, Community Corrections Centers, and Community Work Release Centers. Prisons are the most secure facilities and provide 24-hour housing and supervision of inmates. Community Corrections Centers provide short-term housing and rehabilitation services, such as substance abuse treatment, job training, and support services. Community Work Release Centers provide inmates with a transition from prison to the community and assist them in becoming self-sufficient following their release.
