Delaware Acknowledgement Guidelines for Support Person is a set of rules and regulations that must be followed when providing support to an individual with a disability in the state of Delaware. These guidelines are designed to ensure that the individual with a disability is able to receive the necessary support to maximize their independence and quality of life. The guidelines cover topics such as the necessary qualifications for support staff, the roles and responsibilities of a support person, communication with the individual with a disability, and the rights of the individual receiving support. The Delaware Acknowledgement Guidelines for Support Person come in two forms: the Delaware Acknowledgement Guidelines for Support Person-Direct Care and the Delaware Acknowledgement Guidelines for Support Person-Coordination. The Direct Care guidelines provide information on the qualifications and responsibilities of a direct care support person, including the roles and responsibilities of the support staff, communication with the individual with a disability, and the rights of the individual receiving support. The Coordination guidelines provide information on the qualifications and responsibilities of a coordinator, including the roles and responsibilities of the coordinator, communication with the individual with a disability, and the rights of the individual receiving support.
