Delaware Appreciation of Service (WAS) is an annual program that recognizes the commitment and contributions of Delaware's dedicated employees. It is designed to reward and recognize the achievements of State of Delaware employees who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their service to the citizens of the State of Delaware. The WAS program consists of three different types of awards: the Governor's Awards of Excellence, the Secretary of State's Certificate of Merit, and the Director's Award. The Governor's Awards of Excellence are presented to outstanding employees who have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in their job duties and have achieved outstanding results in areas such as customer service, innovation, and public service. The Secretary of State's Certificate of Merit is presented to State of Delaware employees who have demonstrated exceptional service and dedication to their job duties and have achieved outstanding results in areas such as customer service, public service, and innovation. The Director's Award is presented to State of Delaware employees who have made a significant and sustained contribution to their job duties and have achieved outstanding results in areas such as customer service, public service, and innovation. The WAS program recognizes the commitment and contributions of Delaware’s dedicated employees and is an opportunity for State of Delaware employees to be formally acknowledged and honored for their hard work and dedication.
