Delaware Request For Judicial Action is a legal document used to start a civil lawsuit in the state of Delaware. It allows individuals to begin a lawsuit without an attorney and must be filed in the Court of Chancery. The document must contain the plaintiff's name, address, the name of the defendant or defendants, the cause of action, a description of any relief requested, as well as a separate statement of facts and circumstances upon which the plaintiff bases their claim. There are two types of Delaware Request For Judicial Action: a Motion and Complaint. A Motion is a request for the Court of Chancery to grant a specific remedy, such as a temporary injunction or a writ of mandamus. A Complaint is a more formal document in which the plaintiff sets out their claim and the legal basis for it. Both documents must be filed in the Court of Chancery in order to initiate a civil lawsuit.
