The Delaware Low Speed Vehicle Affidavit is a document used by the Delaware Department of Transportation (Del DOT) to certify that a low-speed vehicle (LSD) has been properly inspected and meets all the safety requirements to be legally operated on the roadways of Delaware. LVS are small, four-wheeled vehicles that are typically powered by either an electric motor or an internal combustion engine and are designed to travel at speeds of up to 25 mph. The Delaware Low Speed Vehicle Affidavit is used by Del DOT to ensure that LSD owners have taken the necessary steps to make sure that their vehicles are safe to operate on public roads. The affidavit must be completed and signed by the LSD owner, a certified mechanic, and a Del DOT inspector. It must be submitted to the Del DOT office in order for the LSD to be registered and legally operated on the roads of Delaware. There are two types of Delaware Low Speed Vehicle Affidavit: the LSD Inspection Affidavit and the LSD Out-of-State Affidavit. The LSD Inspection Affidavit is used for LVS purchased in Delaware that are new or used, while the LSD Out-of-State Affidavit is used for LVS purchased in other states.
