Florida Summons (Corporate) is a document issued by the court that requires the defendant, typically a corporation, to appear in court to answer a complaint in a civil action. There are two types of Florida Summons (Corporate): Service by Publication and Regular Service. Service by Publication is when a summons and complaint are published in a newspaper as a means of providing notice to a defendant who cannot be located. Regular Service requires the summons and complaint to be personally served upon the defendant, or a representative of the defendant, by someone who is not a party to the case. The summons and complaint must be served within a certain period of time specified by the court.
